A View from Bryn Euryn
Towards the Little Orme

Tuesday 1 December 2009

Welcome to our new blog.

Following a proposal to introduce grazing onto Bryn Euryn Local Nature Reserve, Rhos-on-Sea, Conwy, we the users decided we needed to join together to voice our objections and to have a voice in the management of the reserve in the future. On the 7th September 2009 this Association was formalised at an open public meeting held to discus the grazing issue. All information regarding the campaign we waged can be viewed at, http://save-our-bryn.blogspot.com/
On the 23rd November 2009 the Management Advisory Group (MAG) who manage the area welcomed a member of our committee with full voting rights. During this meeting the Feasibility Study into introducing grazing was discussed and while it was accepted, the implimentation of grazing was rejected by a unanimous vote.
We would like to express our thanks to all our members, David Jones MP, Darren Millar AM, Brynle Williams AM, Cllr Merfyn Thomas and the MAG members who all helped to ensure Bryn Euryn remains an unrestricted open public space. Somewhere for all the family to come and enjoy.
On 25th November 2009 we held our first Social Evening with a talk by Julian Hughes from the RSPB about the birds of the area, a fun quiz to tax our brain power and a raffle. We would like to thank the local shops in Rhos who kindly donated items, they include, Conwy Candies, ID Hair & Nails, La Dolce Vita, Lillie Lace, Luna Flowers, Rhos Deli, Tan Lan Bakery, Spar, The Co-operative, Tabitha Jane, Taylor Made, and The Ship.
We now look forward to working along side Conwy Countryside Services to help preserve and protect our 'green oasis' Any chances to volunteer will be posted on this site, so feel free to come along and join us. Membership is £2 per year and we are hoping to have a further Social Evening in the Spring.
